U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek Endorsed for U.S. Senate by Miami Mayor Manny Diaz

U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-Miami) was endorsed today for the U.S. Senate by Miami Mayor Manny Diaz.

“Manny Diaz is not only Miami’s mayor, he’s America’s mayor. As President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Manny was the Leader-in-Chief, working tirelessly to ensure that Miami and cities throughout the state and county would benefit from the economic recovery package,” said Congressman Kendrick Meek. “Whether working with President Obama or congressional leaders, Manny was the economic stimulus champion for our cities and his leadership is unparalleled. Mayor Diaz’s endorsement means a great deal to this campaign, and I look forward to working together throughout this U.S. Senate race to better our community and state.”

“Congressman Kendrick Meek is a leader in Congress who knows that placing unfair financial burdens and unfunded mandates on our cities is a practice that must end. Cities are being asked to do more with less, and Kendrick has proven himself to be a leader on the Ways and Means Committee who opposes disadvantaging our cities and most vulnerable citizens,” said Mayor Manny Diaz. “Miami has undergone a renaissance once already, and now we are rebuilding again to create a green city that is a model of 21st century innovation. I look to leaders like Kendrick to champion this movement in Congress, and as Florida’s next U.S. Senator, our state will be served by one of the best.”
